Gum Recession and Tooth Erosion
–
Patients frequently complain of sensitive teeth. Sensitivity
is often the result of gingival (gum) recession that expose
the root of the tooth. In this case the root is exposed and
the root surface has eroded resulting in very sensitive teeth.
This problem can be corrected by either grafting the gum
tissue so that it will cover the root or place a filling to
cover the eroded area. In this instance, the patient elected
to have fillings placed on all three teeth. After placement of
the fillings, the patient was totally free of tooth
sensitivity.
